OCH Round Table Part #1

We are honored to have spoken with Dion, Daz, and Ryan— just some of the awesome small business owners in our neighborhood!

Our CEO, Eli, got the privilege of hearing their visions and hopes for the future of Downtown Tacoma. More than anything, we want Old City Hall to be a community space. We hope that it’s not only a reminder of Tacoma’s history, but a place where Tacomans can create the future. It’s a lofty goal, but we’re led by principles of inclusion, accessibility, and community support. To Surge, every Tacoman really does mean every Tacoman. Through the restoration of Old City Hall, we are creating living spaces, jobs, opportunities for entrepreneurs, and a place where everyone can feel safe and accepted in their community. It only makes sense to start integrating the voices of our community from the very beginning.

For Surge, community isn’t an afterthought; it’s woven into everything we do. This roundtable is a testament to that—Dion, Daz, and Ryan gave us an insight into what being a small business owner in Downtown Tacoma is really like and informed us how OCH can best support community members in our area. We will be posting our entire conversation in four parts, so keep an eye on our blog to see everything we discussed. Watch for an introduction to our roundtable at Union Club.
